The Coronavirus Aid, Response, and EconomicSecurity Act (CARES Act)

CARES Act has provisions to help unemployed or partially unemployed workers even if they do not normally qualify for state unemployment compensation.

Provides Pandemic Unemployment Assistance to individuals who otherwise would not qualify for regular UI under state or federal law and become unemployed or cannot find work (i.e. part-time employees making less than the required $3,589.00 in a calendar quarter and independent contractors).CARES Act provides an additional 13 weeks of unemployment(up to a maximum 39 weeks)to those who were eligible for state funded unemployment benefits.

CARES Act provides an additional $600.00 per week payment to each UI or Pandemic Assistance recipient through July 31, 2020.
