What is the difference between Archdiocesan Cemeteries and parochial (parish) cemeteries?
The primary difference between Archdiocesan Cemeteries and parish cemeteries is the latter are affiliated with individual parishes, and as such are considered parish property and are managed and operated by the parishes. The last three cemeteries noted above used to be parochial cemeteries; however, when their respective parishes were merged and/or closed, CFCS took over the administration of the cemeteries. (Note: In other cases, parochial cemeteries managed by closing parishes may be transferred to the care of nearby parishes.)
