What is the total unemployment compensation that an employee can receive if completely laid off?
The amount of weekly unemployment benefits from the state is based on the employee’s earnings during previous calendar quarters. The maximum benefit an employee may receive is $362.00 per week for up to 26 weeks under the state unemployment program. Under the CARES Act,the state unemployment benefits may be extended for an additional 13 weeks up to a maximum 39 weeks. In addition to the weekly state unemployment benefit, employees may also be eligible for an additional $600.00 per week through July 31, 2020 pursuant to the CARES Act.
