Communion is only to be distributed to the faithful in the form of the Precious Body. Insofar as it is possible, Communion should be distributed only by priests and deacons, taking special care not to touch the faithful in any way. If contact is made, the minister should immediately sanitize his hands before resuming the distribution of Communion.
In addition, whenever possible, the reverence and the verbal exchange (Bow – “The Body of Christ” – “Amen”) could take place while maintaining six feet of space between the participants. At that point, the communicant may step forward very briefly to receive.
