Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

2026 USCCB Audit

Thank you to all the parishes and schools who submitted their 2026 Annual USCCB Audit. In our next newsletter, we will share the number of submissions that were received on time and the current percentage of parishes who are in compliance. Later in July, we will share an annual report.

If you need to schedule a time to meet with Maegan Pierson, Safe Environments Manager, about any of your compliance and any follow up, please do so HERE

Thank you again all for your endless patience and care towards upholding the safety of children and vulnerable adults. Each one of you has done incredible work, and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in our parishes and schools

NEW: Reporting Abuse in Parish Bulletins and School Boards

As part of our safeguarding of children and vulnerable populations, we kindly require all parishes and schools to regularly publish in their bulletin and school board materials either the report abuse insert OR longer form abuse reporting guide (see below) The first parish or school to send The Office of Safe Environments pictures of this information being published at their school or parish will win a $100 gift card to Starbucks. The winner will be announced in the coming weeks 😊

NEW Running Reports on Inactive Users

I have had several requests about how to pull a report of users you have inactivated this fiscal year. Please see the instructions below as this may benefit your parish or school.

INACTIVE USER REPORT:

    • Go to Reports and Click on "Master Report"
    • Along with the usual modifications you have on your master report, please include "Master Report" and "Inactive Date"
    • Set the report to "Show All Users (including inactive user)"
    • Export to CSV
    • Sort by inactive date to find users deleted within the target timeframe.

Fingerprinting Updates

The Office of Safe Environments and Compliance is working diligently towards rolling out our Background Check Policy that will include the updated Criminal Convictions Policy combined with our new fingerprinting policy. Please know that this will be coming out soon along with updates on timelines for fingerprinting certain categories of individuals and other fun website updates as well. Currently, we are only fingerprinting clerics and employees of the Archdiocese of Detroit. If you would like to have us come out and fingerprint your employees, please email me at pierson.maegan@aod.org. Due to some logistics and the number of people we can roll, we are currently slated to begin booking in July of 2026.

    Bulletin Communication

There have been some questions about how to best inform our volunteers about the AOD requirements for Protecting God’s Children. I impart to you the gift of an updated bulletin communication. If some of you have bulletin communications, you have found to be helpful in your parish or school, please email them to pierson.maegan@aod.org

    God bless you all,

    Maegan Pierson
